Bedroom Redo # 3

Today we setup a bedroom for a girl that loves to craft and sew.

We found an old small cabinet and painted it a fun blue for storage.

At a rummage sale we scored a jewelry box full of great pins.  The original owner's name was Helen, she had a Helen pin and many safe driver pins.  They were all so unique - some funny - some pretty.  We made them into a C for Cassidy.

We collected several sewing items for her.  One jar is full of zippers, one with buttons, and another has lots of sewing items.  She had a sewing machine as well that was super cute.

We found an old armoire & painted it black.  We painted the inset with chalkboard paint so she'd have an area to get creative.  On top of the armoire is a vintage sewing machine case, sewing drawers, knitting needles, and a jar of thread.

We also found a dress form.  We added some pins & a belt made of a measuring tape.

For window treatments, we used yardsticks.

She had an amazing iron bed.  We reupholstered the insets with a coordinating fabric.  Her grandma is making her an amazing quilt with lots of greens, blues, and purples.  It's arriving this week.  We also painted her side table a punchy blue.  A vintage lamp was painted black to match the bed.  Funky hands are a fun accessory.

She wanted a chalkboard wall, but her walls are textured.  So the next best thing was a large chalkboard.  We took an old 1970's framed painting that was pretty ugly & we painted over it and the frame with chalkboard paint.  This was a great way to make a large framed chalkboard for less.

She was also always pinning things to her wall, so her Mom requested some typee of bulletin board so we took old frames & put chicken wire into them.  This allows her to display her favorite things.

We made flowers out of vintage patterns & hung a cute bag up to store her clothes pins.

She had a family desk that we painted the punchy blue.  This makes a great workspace for her to craft, tackle homework, or use as a vanity.

We took a folding tape measure and made it into a quick star.  She has more pattern flowers on her desk as well.

This is the before picture we have.

A Bedroom Redo - Befores & Afters

You may remember the room flip we did recently here.  Well today we tackled her older sister's room.

Here is the before - LOVE the bed!!

Watch for this dresser to be upcycled!

Here are the afters!!  This is the view from the doorway!

This white dresser was painted a fun orange, we added crystal knobs, and decoupaged the top with maps.  This girl has an addiction to hats so we scored her three heads to display her favorite hats on!

We found some old vintage mirrors & layered them.  With some vintage flashcards that say "Oh Look" it's a super cute display!

Don't you love these?  We put her hometowns & places she's traveled in prominant places so they could be seen!

This girl loves to collect so we scored an old crate made into a curio cabinet & painted it up to match.  We hung a shelf above it made by our Dad - it's old molding & casters - funky!!

Her bed went over in this corner.  It was a hard room to setup because a window AC unit must fit so we had to put the bed off center.  She had an amazing quilt from her grandma so we worked with it for our color scheme.  We found the super cool vintage lamp & painted it to match the room!  The rag rug worked perfectly because she has a trundle bed she uses a lot so the rug rolls up & voila room for a friend!

We wanted a simple but funky window treatment so we did some sheers with texture to let in the light & strung them up on twine attached to old spoons.  That's right - we drilled holes in spoons and bent them to hold he curtains up!!

Her mother found this amazing corner desk with two dressers & we painted them gray & they made a fabulous unit & gave this little girl a TON of needed storage & a great place to do her homework!

We put old crates on the wall to hold her book collections and other treasures.

We think the room is fabulous for a little girl!  We have one more bedroom to go!
